Biography

CPA Benny Yona is the Head of the Corporations, Capital Markets, and Investment Department at Bracha & Co. His department represents Israeli and multinational corporations, public companies, financial institutions, venture capital funds, hi-tech companies, insurance companies, and governmental bodies.
Benny specializes in the taxation of corporations, financial institutions, and investment funds globally. His expertise includes IPOs, commercial corporate tax, financial investments, cryptocurrency, VAT, and complex financial tax issues.
Before joining Bracha & Co., Benny gained over 22 years of unprecedented experience within the Israel Tax Authority, where he led the Capital Markets and Corporate Taxation Department for many years. In this role, he was responsible for tax rulings for all major entities in Israel, including financial institutions and hi-tech giants. He worked closely with key regulators, including the Bank of Israel, the Israel Securities Authority, the AML Authority, and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
Benny has chaired several inter-ministerial committees on regulation, including teams focused on virtual currencies (Crypto), financial services supervision (the "Brees" team), and securitization. He was deeply involved in capital market legislation alongside the Ministry of Finance, issued professional opinions and Pre-Rulings, and served as a professional mentor for numerous tax assessors.
Furthermore, Benny served as the professional advisor to the Israel Tax Authority's legal teams in various courts, constructing the professional arguments for the largest tax cases in Israel’s history. This gives him a unique "insider" perspective on tax litigation and the formula for resolving disputes with tax authorities successfully.
A renowned figure in the Israeli tax world, Benny is a sought-after lecturer on taxation and accounting. He has taught at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the College of Management, Tel Aviv University, and other leading academic institutions.
